Srinagar, Dec 27 (KNO): As snowfall blankets the Kashmir valley, the Roads and Buildings (R&B) division, Kashmir, has reported clearing major roads in central Kashmir, including Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal.
Officials stated that 100% of roads have been cleared in Srinagar, 90% in Ganderbal, and 80% in Budgam. They added that all roads are expected to be fully cleared by midnight.
Sharing details about the snow clearance operations in central Kashmir, Sajad Ahmad Naqeeb, Chief Engineer, Roads and Buildings (R&B), Kashmir division as per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said the main roads under the jurisdiction of R&B are operational and cleared. These include roads in Srinagar, Budgam, and Ganderbal.
He noted that the total road span in these areas is approximately 2,600 kilometers, with 100% of roads cleared in Srinagar, 90% in Ganderbal, and 80% in Budgam. “If the weather remains dry and the situation under control, we are hopeful that 100% of roads in all these areas will be cleared,” he said.
He further added that lanes and by-lanes of Srinagar, jointly covered by R&B and SMC, are also operational, with pending ones being addressed.
It is worth mentioning, the snowfall stated heavily last night in valley and till morning the roads were all white and the R&B department since then cleared the roads—(KNO)
